Moizuddin Khan

This is a poem about Moizuddin Khan (also known as Majuddin Khan) who was one of the greatest vocalists of the late 19th and early 20th Century. He mainly sang thumris, but his tankari and compositions were the envy of many great Khayal singers. He was one of the first to be recorded on 78 rpm by His Master’s Voice of Calcutta around 1904 – 1910. His recordings have been rescued and digitalised in the last 15 years and are available on a CD at last. The likes of this great vocalist will not be seen again.

    Alishan Saheb,
Your poems in appreciation of the great ustads are the first of their kind, and quite commendable. It will help the readers, if you could provide a link to the recitals by these great artists, along with each poem. This would be a wonderful point of reference for the readers.
